Steam Railcars

A series of 16 steam railcars built in 4 batches by Sentul works and Sentinel.

9 2-car sets were planned in 1914 and 4 had been completed by 1917. Some of the others had already been built at Sentul but were awaiting the motor units which were later cancelled and these bodies were completed as standard hauled coaches instead. In 1930 a single unit was supplied by Sentinel (built 1929) with 5 more 2 years later. These had 2-axle power bogies and 6 cylinders. A further 6 were supplied in 1938 with a larger boiler and 3-axle bogie, extra seating and a toilet in each coach. Four of the SR2 and three SR3 were in the KL area in 1955 with 252.05 active at that time.
