71000 Duke of Gloucester

with The Cathedrals Express to Exeter

takes water at Winchfield on 24th July 2005

The Duke draws into Winchfield's platform 2 to take water.

Above and below: the Duke stands in the pouring rain taking on water.

Below: the Duke makes an impressive sight as it effortlessly accelerates its 11-coach load out of Winchfield.

Finally, for those who may not have noticed it before, the booking hall at Winchfield contains an impressive tiled mural depicting the station in its early days as a temporary terminus of the London and Southampton Railway. It was designed and painted by Susan Ferraby of Winchfield Pottery.
