Uncle Howard's Album - Road Services

The Federated Malay States Railway didn't just run trains. They also operated motor services along some fairly difficult routes into the heart of Malaysia, connecting remote towns and villages with the main line railway. Both passengers and merchandise were carried in FMSR buses and lorries.

Richard Peskett is a vehicle restoration engineer, and I believe a lover of old buses. I suspect the bus pictures were his main reason for buying this album. Richard has unearthed a short article, from a 1910 issue of Commercial Motor magazine. Click here to read it.

The captions are based on information in Richard's article. If you have any further information, please contact me at TimLight99@Hotmail.com

The images shown have been reduced (to fit most screens) and enhanced. The originals are beautifully detailed scans from high quality prints. To see the original full size scan just click anywhere on the image.
