Williams to the Grand Canyon
29th September 2007
We spent the
night in Williams and next morning went to the Grand Canyon Railway station for
our train to the Canyon. Preserved on the platform is a Lima-built Shay and next
to the station was a Steam tractor ECLIPSE. Our train was headed by 6793 and
cabless 6860, while 239 was waiting in the yard with another train. The only
view of the depot was as we accelerated past it, there were several diesels and
1 steam locomotive visible. After a tour of the Canyon rim we saw 239 arrive
with it's train. We would spend the night at the Canyon and explore it on foot
the next day.
