Ohakune Junction to Fielding 31st October 2007 On the way to Ohakune Junction some of us visited the spot where the last spike was driven in to complete the North Island Main Trunk line. The schedule today was easy with numerous stops planned for crossing or passing freights and several of us were given passes for cab rides. In the event some freight services had been delayed elsewhere so we had time to stop for some extra run pasts, two of which occurred while I was in the cab. On arrival at Fielding , where the train would stable for the night, we would be able to visit the workshops before transferring to our hotel in Palmerston North.
