Bay of Islands Railway 25th October 2007 It would be another week before we saw any more trains when we passed a southbound freight as we were driving northwards to the Bay of Islands. We had stopped for lunch beside the track and seen nothing. We visited the station at Opua and found that it would be operating the next day and that it was possible to walk the old trackbed for some distance before following a maked footpath back to the town.
