Chinchilla junction

28th August 2007

Now it was the turn for freights, the first eastbound hauled by 269 092-3 and then westbound what was effectively a Quadruple-header with twin-unit 269 857 leading 269 206 and 269 298, the latter two with pantographs down may have assisted the train on the 3,000' climb to Almansa. This was followed by another Talgo from Alicante behind 269 401-6 and then the long-distance passenger service from the north-east of Spain to the south coast behind 252 069-8. This train changes formation throughout its journey as coaches are added or removed according to their origin and destination, some destinations only having a single coach, and to add to the confusion not all destinations are served every day. Finally on this page a Talgo heading for Alicante hauled by 252 035-1.
