The old branch

While at Tumpat we were told of an abandoned branch which ran from behind the cemetery at Tumpat to a pier a mile or so to the north. A group of us were taken there to view the remains. Above and below are the supports for the pier.

Above, members of our group stand on a wooden bridge to view the remains of the railway bridge across the river, next two pictures below.

Above: Zacky stands on the track-bed beside the cemetery and looks back along it towards the junction at Tumpat. There was no time to examine the area of the junction itself as on our return our train was already waiting in the station.
